The universe seems to be upset with me lately. We had the flat tire in the pouring rain, the broken camera, the pukey stomach bug that caused Annabelle to vomit in her sisters backpack and all over the backseat of the car to name a few things. So what on earth could possibly be next?

We have the pox. Chicken pox, that is.  Happy Halloween kids.

Take Two

These are the same pics, but after I have played around with them. Because, of course, I could not just leave them alone.

Bananas

I had just finished baking banana nut bread with chocolate chips when the girls came running into the kitchen. They both looked at it, smelled it and wanted to eat some immediately. I cut them each a slice and then the drama began.

GRACE: So, what is in this bread?

MAMA: It is chocolate chip bread with nuts.

GRACE: Oh, sounds good. (She takes a bite) Mmmmmmm this is so delicious.

MAMA: I am so glad you like it.

GRACE (mumbling because she has shoved the whole piece in her mouth): This is my most favorite bread ever. Can I have some more, please?

MAMA: OK, just one more piece. (In my head I am scoring one for me: I got the child to eat a banana and - BONUS - she has no idea).

Michael walks through the kitchen and tries to throw one of his toys in the garbage, opening it just enough to expose the banana peels.

Oh crap, she sees them.

GRACE (putting the bread down): Um, Mama....is there bananas in this bread?

MAMA: In your favorite new bread? Do you taste bananas?

GRACE: No.

MAMA: Then what does it matter?

GRACE: THERE ARE BANANAS! You LIED to me. (Weeping) I can never believe you again. You made me eat a banana.

She then ran off to tell Papa the whole story. I am guessing I don't come out very well in her version.

Technical Difficulties

In light of the fact that my camera has died, I am going to have to post some old pictures until I can get a new camera.
This was the day Michael was born. I cannot believe this was over a year ago.
I also cannot believe how much the girls have grown since then. Look at all of Annabelle's hair!?!?!?!?! Obviously this was before the Great Hair Cutting Scandal of January 1, 2009.

At the Pumpkin Patch

Annabelle's class had a field trip to the pumpkin patch today. It was a beautiful, cool fall day and Belle and Michael enjoyed the hayride.
Annabelle was determined to find the smallest pumpkin on the entire patch. She is a smart girl; she realized that she would have to carry it back to the car.
Michael had a lot of fun, too. He particularly enjoyed running amongst the pumpkins. I was able to get him to sit for a few seconds to snap some pictures.

Grace on Dinner

GRACE: I hope we never have to eat that again.

MAMA: Well, there are lots of leftovers, so I bet we will be having it again very soon.

GRACE: I gotta tell ya Mom, lots of leftovers means it was really bad and you should probably just throw it away.

My New Hat

I have been knitting a bit lately and I made myself a hat. I realize it doesn't really get all that cold here, but nonetheless I felt I needed one.
As you can see, Miss Grace has other plans for my new hat. She said she would "love it more than anything in the whole entire wide world and will take the bestest care of it ever."
So, now I am knitting another hat.

For Grandpa

Grandpa, you can file this under "Things I never, EVER thought I would do (and really NEVER, EVER, EVER wanted to be caught doing on film)."

Daddy's Helicopter

This has become one of our favorite shirts because the helicopter on it actually looks like the one Eric flies. (Note to husband - please do not send me an email detailing all the reasons it does NOT look like the Huey. It has skids and the same type of doors on the side. Close enough). So, when Michael first wore it, the girls were very excited.

GRACE (yelling) Look Bellie! Michael is wearing Daddy's helicopter!!!

BELLIE: Yeah, but that is not Daddy's helicopter. Daddy would not fit in there.

GRACE: I realize that, Belle. I meant it just looks like his helicopter.

BELLIE: Right.

About Pink Milk

After accidentally tasting the strawberry syrup we use to make pink milk, I noticed how awful it really tastes. That made me curious....

MAMA: Grace, do you like the taste of pink milk, or do you just like the fact that it is pink.

GRACE: I just like the fact that it is pink.

MAMA: Does it taste good at all?

GRACE: Not really.

MAMA: So you ask for it all the time, and drink it, just because it is pink.

GRACE: Yep.
